For higher speed requirements it is necessary to move away from the inline piston filling systems and instead to rotary filling machines. In this format, filling systems can be designed for an almost unlimited number of production requirements. It is capable of volumetrically filling low viscosity(thin) liquid to high viscosity(thick) liquid or creams with or without particulates. But it is better for filling pastes, creams, lotions, gels. In operation, product is drawn into a cylinder as the piston is lifted by the piston roller traveling up an inclined cam track. At the top of the piston stroke the valve is rotated, closing the intake port and opening the discharge port. On the downstroke, the piston gently moves the product out of the cylinder, through the valve and into the container. If no container is present, the valve remains in the intake position and the product is gently returned to the filler bowl.
